Codenamed "T15", the first-generation Tiggo 7 was first revealed at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show,[2] before it went on sale in July 2016.[3] Its design was based on the TX SUV concept, originally showcased at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show.[4][5]

Positioned above the Tiggo 5 at the time, initial engine options include a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol and a 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol. The first-generation Tiggo 7 would later provided as the basis of the upmarket Exeed LX, which was introduced in 2019.

2018 facelift (Tiggo 7 Fly)

[edit]

The facelifted model was debuted in September 2018 as the Tiggo 7 Fly. It uses a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, carried over from the pre-facelift model, producing 147 horsepower (110 kW; 149 PS) and 210 N⋅m (155 lb⋅ft; 21 kg⋅m). Transmission options include a 6-speed dual-clutch and a 6-speed manual.[6]

The facelifted model was first previewed in August 2017, where it was originally planned to be sold under the Qoros brand with the name Young.[7] However, the Qoros Young was never released for unknown reason, suggesting the model was cancelled.[citation needed]

DR F35 (2020–2023)

[edit]

Between 2020 and 2023, DR Automobiles marketed the first-generation Tiggo 7 in Italy as the DR F35. The F35 adopts the styling from the facelifted Tiggo 7 Fly, while sporting a different front grille, along with additional details on the front bumper. It is only available with a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine, available with either a conventional petrol or a bi-fuel (petrol/LPG) setup (later marketed as the Thermohybrid since 2021).[8]

2023 facelift

The Chinese market Tiggo 7 Plus underwent a facelift in October 2022 for the 2023 model year.[13] The facelift features a completely redesigned front end, with the headlight units were taken from the Tiggo 8 Plus.

2024 facelift

[edit]

China

[edit]

For 2024, the regular Tiggo 7 for the Chinese market underwent a facelift in May 2024, which borrows the exterior design from the 2021 Plus PHEV models. The interior design was largely unchanged.[14]

Global

[edit]

The 2024 Tiggo 7 for the global markets received a different facelift than the Chinese version, which was revealed in April 2024 during the 2024 Chery International Business Conference in Wuhu, Anhui. It borrows the exterior design from the facelifted 2023 Plus models, but features a newly-redesigned front bumper, grille and rear fascia.[15] It first went on sale in Spain in December 2024 as the Ebro S700.[16]

Markets

[edit]

The second-generation Tiggo 7 is exported under different monikers, notably Tiggo 7 Pro and Tiggo 7 Pro Max, depending on the market and specifications.

[edit]

The Tiggo 7 Pro was introduced in Australia on August 2023,[17] with prices announced in September 2023. Available grades are the Urban, Elite and Ultimate. It is only available with a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine, available in front-wheel drive (Urban and Elite) or all-wheel drive (Ultimate).[18] For the Australian market, the Tiggo 7 Pro adopts the front bumper design and interior dashboard from the Chinese 2021 Plus PHEV models.

Initial variants were the Prestige and Ultimate, while its initial engine option was carried over from the Pro version.[33] The Elite variant was added in May 2023.[34] In July 2023, a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine option, only available with all-wheel drive, was added to the range, and is only available on the Elite and Ultimate.[35] The Pro Max version received a facelift in June 2024, sporting the front bumper design from the Chinese 2024 facelifted models.[36]

The plug-in hybrid version with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol plug-in hybrid (PHEV), based on the Chinese 2021 Plus PHEV, was launched in October 2023, alongside the Tiggo 8 Pro e+.[37]

The Pro version was discontinued in April 2024, where the model was rebranded by AvtoVAZ as the Xcite X-Cross 7, sold under the company's Xcite marque, which was revealed about a month prior.[38]

Rebranded versions

[edit]

Ebro S700

[edit]

Under a partnership with Chery, Spanish manufacturer Ebro produced and sold a licensed-built second-generation Tiggo 7 in Spain under the company's resurrected namesake brand as the Ebro S700. It was unveiled in May 2024 at the Madrid Car Experience,[42] and went on sale in December 2024.[16] Adopting the styling used by the export-market facelifted 2024 models, initial variants were the Comfort and Luxury. Initial engine option is a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol, with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol plug-in hybrid (PHEV) will be available later in 2025.[43] It is assembled at the former Nissan Motor Ibérica plant in Barcelona, with the first units rolling out in 25 September 2024.[44]

DR 6.0

[edit]

DR Automobiles marketed the second-generation Tiggo 7 in Italy as the DR 6.0, which was launched in 20 April 2022. It is only available with a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine, available with either a conventional petrol or DR's Thermohybrid bi-fuel (petrol/LPG) setup.[45]

A 1.6-litre turbocharged engine option, marketed as the 6.0 T-GDI, was made available since 2024. The T-GDI adopts the exterior styling used by the Chinese internal-combustion 2021 Tiggo 7 Plus.[citation needed] A plug-in hybrid model, based on the Chinese 2021 Tiggo 7 Plus PHEV, was also made available at the same time.[citation needed]

Apart from different badgings, all DR 6.0 models feature a different front grille pattern design.

Sportequipe 6

[edit]

Sportequipe, a subsidiary of DR Automobiles, sold a version of the second-generation Tiggo 7 as the Sportequipe 6 since 2023, which was first revealed in June 2022 at the 2022 Milano Monza Open-Air Motor Show.[46] The model sported the front fascia design from the non-Pro/Plus versions of the Tiggo 8, while sharing the same engine option, as well supply options, as the regular DR 6.0.[47]

A plug-in hybrid model, based on the Chinese 2021 Tiggo 7 Plus PHEV, was made available since 2024, positioned as a sportier alternative to the DR 6.0 PHEV. The PHEV version sported the same front fascia design as the Tiggo 8 Pro/Plus.[citation needed]

Xcite X-Cross 7

[edit]
