Subcategorization
[edit]To make this subcategory a little more manageable, and to make it unnecessary to put every article in here under Category:Gay, lesbian or bisexual people as well, I've broken this up into multiple subcategories. People tend not to like this category because a sterile FLA isn't immediately understandable to all, thus they engage in wide categorization. In the cases where it is not obvious which category they belong in (either unacknowledged or unknown) I'm leaving them in this category (like tranny drag queens and determinedly uncategorizable pansexuals, or just relatively obscure people for which information isn't readily available). Note: The following comments are brought over from the former category Category:Gay musicians.

Grant Hart
[edit]I don't believe that Grant Hart of Hüsker Dü fame is gay. His former bandmate Bob Mould is. I won't remove him from the list as I have no proof either way. Benakr 16:55, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
- They both are. Gayness 1 (talk) 11:14, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
Redirect?
[edit]This page should redirect to Category:LGBT musicians Exploding Boy 20:44, August 2, 2005 (UTC)
- No, this is a subcat of LGBT musicians. Gayness 1 (talk) 11:13, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
Michael Tippett
[edit]Hi ! The composer Michael Tippett is missing. :-)
- Then add him... Bearcat 23:59, 15 August 2005 (UTC)
Subcat:Elton John
[edit]The subcategory Category:Elton John should be eliminated and has been listed on Wikipedia:Categories for Deletion
And what about Luther Vandross ? it was probably just a rumor I'm sure Bruce Vilanch was kidding.
- His orientation is uncertain; can anyone provide any evidence? Gayness 1 (talk) 11:13, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
Darren Hayes should be included on this list. I'd add him, but I don't know how.
The superstar DJ Junior Vasquez is most certainly missing. Not only is he openly gay but he is also a DJ Legend, not to mention some have given him GOD status, in the gay scene. There are also many other famous gay DJs that are missing. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by BiBoyzRock (talk • contribs) 22:31, 10 December 2006 (UTC).
Should the Village People be here?
[edit]I know some of them were gay, but all of them? Wouldn't it be better to list them individually? I realise they are gay icons, but I am almost certain they were't all gay.
Michael Stipe
[edit]What about R.E.M. lead singer Michael Stipe? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.210.209.202 (talk) 13:42, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
- He's bi. Gayness 1 (talk) 11:13, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
Freddie Mercury and Michael Stipe
[edit]Freddie Mercury is not on the list. In reference to Michael Stipe, I will have to find the interview he did where he discussed being gay. He needs to be on the list.
- It is much debated as to whether Mercury was homosexual or bisexual. Gayness 1 (talk) 11:13, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
Is there really a "gay way" of doing music?
[edit]If not, how is this not WP:OC? Bulldog123 19:22, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

Relatively new to Wiki - not sure how to get these officially added. Any suggestions would be helpful. Bcwilson821 (talk) 15:31, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
- Do you have reliable sources to support each of these? If so the information with the reference should be in the article then add [[Category:Gay musicians]] to the bottom of each page. —J04n(talk page) 19:44, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
