Usage of tools
[edit]What tools can be adopted to correct the issues present in these subcategories?Adithyak1997 (talk) 07:01, 10 February 2019 (UTC)
- Usually, you need to go through each article in a category one by one to find and fix the unsupported parameters. In a few cases, there are parameters that have been removed or were never supported but are present in many articles. A tool like AWB or AutoEd can help in those cases. You have to check the template's talk pages and sometimes the template's history to find out why there are so many instances of a given parameter, however; flagging of a popular parameter as an error may itself be a mistake.
- If a template has a TemplateData section in its documentation page, you can click on the monthly report to show a list of all parameters used in that template as of the beginning of the current month, along with links to articles using each parameter. Again, before "fixing" a given article, it is your responsibility to ensure that the parameter in question is truly unsupported; editors sometimes make mistakes when coding the TemplateData section, or when creating the unknown parameter check in the template.
- Determining whether to remove or correct a given erroneous parameter is dependent on checking the code and documentation for a given template. – Jonesey95 (talk) 08:45, 10 February 2019 (UTC)
