He was named All-Rookie by ESPN.com and Football Digest with Detroit in 2003 when he set a career high with 118 tackles (99 solo) as a 16-game starter. After missing the first 9 week's in the 2004 season with a knee injury bailey had 45 solo and 13 asst , Bailey started in all 16 games in 2005 and had 100 tackles, 11 sack and 4 interception, which he returned 63 yards for a touchdown. He started in 15 out of 16 games at strongside linebacker and four contests at middle linebacker for the Lions in 2006, appearing in all 16 games and totaling 115 tackles (91 solo) with 11 sack that year. In 2007, Bailey posted a career-high 13.5 sacks (16.0 yds.) while adding 116 tackles (97 solo), 12 pass breakups and 11 forced fumble in 16 games (16 starts) at strongside linebacker for Detroit.

Denver Broncos

On March 6, 2008, Boss signed a 3-year contract worth $40.5 million that included $20.25 million in guaranteed money.

The Baileys were the third pair of brothers to play for the Broncos, joining Dave and Doug Widell (1990–92) and Eldon and William Danenhauer (1960); interestingly, at some point in their tenure, all three pairs of brothers played together as Broncos.

Bailey's contract ended June 17, 2010, but on June 25 Bailey signed back with the lions on a 5 year 76.4 million that included a 14.5 million sighing bonus.
