Binod Kumar Das (born 15 Feb 1980) is a Nepalese cricketer.[1] A right-handed batsman and right-arm medium pace bowler,[2] he is the current captain of the Nepal national cricket team, having played for them since 2000.[3]

Biography

Born in Bhograi in 1980,[2] Binod Das first played for Nepal at Under-19 level, playing in the 2000 Under-19 World Cup in Sri Lanka. He played in the ICC Under-17 Asia Cup in Pakistan later in the year, before making his début for the senior side in that year's ACC Trophy in the United Arab Emirates.[3]

After playing in the 2001 ICC Trophy in Ontario,[4] he returned to the Under-19 team for the 2002 Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand and played in the ACC Trophy in Singapore that July.[3] His first-class début came in March 2004 when he played for Nepal against the UAE in the 2004 ICC Intercontinental Cup.[5] He also played in the ACC Trophy that year, in addition to ACC Fast Track Countries Tournament matches against Singapore, the UAE and Hong Kong.[3]

In February 2005 he played in the repêchage tournament of the 2005 ICC Trophy,[3] in which Nepal finished third after beating Qatar in a play-off.[6] He also played ACC Fast Track Countries Tournament matches against Singapore, Malaysia,[3] the UAE and Hong Kong.[5] The games against the UAE and Hong Kong also counted towards the 2005 ICC Intercontinental Cup[7] and are his final first-class matches to date.[8][5]

In March 2006 he played for Nepal in a play-off match against Namibia to decide the final spot in the 2006 ICC Intercontinental Cup. Needing an outright win to qualify, Nepal could only secure a draw after there was no play on the first day.[9] This was followed by playing on a tour of Pakistan and in the ACC Trophy in Malaysia, before ACC Premier League matches against Hong Kong, UAE, Singapore and Malaysia. He most recently represented his country in the 2007 ACC Twenty20 Cup in Kuwait.[3]
