She is disappointed because Ramona was taking one bite of an apple, throwing them, and then eating another apple. When [[mother]] gets back Ramona explains that she was a bad girl. Although, they eat applesauce. Beezus, impressed with Ramona's well behavor desides to read Ramona Big Steve. Tomorrow, Ramona's behavore changes. Ramona, riding in her tricycle singing copycat, changes to singing Par-tee, reminding mother about Beezus' upcoming birthday.

Beezus thinks of inviting her Aunt Beatrice, but is cutted when Mrs. Kemp is at the phone. She asked if she could leave Willa Jean over when she drops of [[Howie Kemp]]. Mrs. Quimby remembers that she didn't invite Howie, but Ramona did without permission. As Ramona says she had a Party, she wasn't pretending. Beezus sees four children in Ramona's nursery school. Ramona explains that she invited them yesterday. Everybody goes to Beezus and and Ramona's room and starts to touch everything. Beezus is disgusted and sends everyone to the living room. She tells Ramona to get toys out of her room.

Suddenly Howie starts shouting Bignle-bongle-by with everybody following along. Then Howie gets the valcuum cleaner and starts charging it around the living room, making a little girl cry. [[Susan Kushner]] then wants to offer, with Willa Jean clunging at the chair and wept. Beezus tries to stop Howie, but he's to quick for her. Beezus, to stop unplugs the vacluum. Mrs. Quimby is mad at Ramona for not asking permission. Ramona tells that she didn't tell her because she wouldn't let her, in which Beezus thinks it was also unfair. Beezus ask her mom if she was like Ramona. Their mother tells her that she was different, for example quieter. This pleases Beezus, who sometimes dislikes Ramona. Then Mrs. Quimby explained how she and Beatrice their aunt was very different. Beezus is surprised, because she never thought about that.

It is Beezus' tenth birthday. Beezus is happy because Aunt Beatrice is coming for dinner. Meanwhile, Mrs. Quimby is baking Beezus' birthday cake. Mrs. Quimby explains that Ramona dropped all the eggs in the mixter and started it. Mom then had to go to the market to buy some eggs. Beezus doesn't want to read about Big Steve so she decides to read Hansel and Gretel. Ramona then starts pulling graham-cracker crumbs out of the pocket of her overalls and sprinkling them across the rug, making Beezus mad. Then Beezus smells something disgusting. Instead of the smell of cake, she smells a horrid rubbery smell.

They soon find out what was the smell. Ramona's doll, Bendix, was leaning over the edge of the cake pan, her head and to a golden tan. Ramona tells that Beezus told her to pretend she was Gretel, who was from the stroy Hansel and Gretel. Mostly, because Gretel pushes the witch into the oven. Beezus burst off crying. Ramona goes to her room, meanwhile Beezus is furious because Mom couldn't bake another cake. Beezus wishes that Ramona was much bigger. Beezus begins to think about her mom and aunt. How much they love eachother. Beezus begins to feel quilty again.
