Barundi is an ancient village located in Ludhiana district in the state of Punjab in India. It is located about 25 km away from Ludhiana. With a population of more than 8,000, Barundi is one of the largest villages in Ludhiana. It is home to many people belonging to different religions and communities.
Name
The name "Barundi" comes from the combination of two words "Bado" and "di", i.e. "Badondi" which means a place that belongs to "intellectual and influential people". This place has produced many eminent personalities both in religion and other facets of life. Many influential people have been related to Barundi in one way or another.Mr.Tejinder Sekhon is one of the reputed business man in U. K.also belong to barundi.
Several people from this village have represented India in defence forces and various other government services. Until few years back Barundi was a host to one of the largest rural games fest in Punjab.
People
Many farming families from Barundi have members settled abroad in the USA, Canada and Europe.
There are four pattis, meaning an area in this village each having a Gurdwara and a Darwaja.
