Avan Tudor Jogia (born February 9, 1992) is a Canadian actor and singer best known for playing Beck Oliver on Victorious. Although he is from Vancouver, he spends most of his time between Vancouver, India and Los Angeles.

Background

Jogia was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, and is of Indian, Welsh and Irish descent. His father is an Indian originally from London, England. His mother is Canadian, with her roots originating from Wales which is part of the United Kingdom, and the Republic of Ireland. He went to a few different schools in Vancouver, including Killarney Secondary School and King George Secondary School, as well as being home-schooled. In tenth grade he left school altogether to pursue a career in acting.[1][2]

Acting career

Jogia's first break came in 2006, when he played Danny Araujo in A Girl Like Me: The Gwen Araujo Story, directed by Oscar nominee Agnieszka Holland. He appeared in The CW TV series Aliens in America as the character Sam. In 2008, he appeared as Champ on Gym Teacher: The Movie and Tajid in Spectacular!, both for the Nickelodeon network.[3][4] Jogia also portrays Ben Stark in the TV series Caprica, a spin-off of Battlestar Galactica, on the Sci Fi Channel.[5][6] Jogia portrays Beck Oliver in the Nickelodeon television program Victorious, which premiered in March 2010. His upcoming new movie, Finding Hope Now is set to be released in 2011.[needs update] He also appeared as Beck Oliver in the iCarly/Victorious crossover movie, iParty With Victorious. Along with Daniella Monet, he was the cohost of the Transformers 3 premiere on June 28, 2011 in New York.
