Her works deals with varied taboo and often controversial subject matter to challenge the viewer.
History
Aunia Kahn was born in Detroit, Michigan and was raised in an explosive and unpredictable home environment and sought refuge through creativity and the arts. In 2003 she found herself immersed in a very intimate series to help advance herself through the healing process of child abuse, but never expected to share her work publicly until she was encouraged to do so. In December 2005 her career officially launched with her first exhibition which garnered immediate interest in fine art gallery showings across the United States and internationally. Her work has been shared publicly in hundreds of showings to date.
Aunia’s work is constantly growing and changing shape, earlier works dealt more with her past, while her more recent series delve into present emotional conflicts and inspirations.
She is also the creator of the Silver Era Tarot deck and the Lowbrow Tarot Project, is a graphic and web designer and owner of Aunia Kahn Designs, as well as musician, vocalist and lyricist in her solo project AfterChain. She currently resides in Illinois with her four German Shepherds and two black cats in her secret closet.
