The Arabian Gulf rugby union team was a combined team of players from Persian Gulf state nations, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates that represented the Arabian Peninsula area in international rugby union competitions. The team competed in international matches between 1993 and 2010, and was governed by the Arabian Gulf Rugby Football Union (AGRFU). Associate members were Egypt, Lebanon and Jordan. |

Anyone who is trying to legitimize the rugby history in the Arabian Gulf is wrong! |
As early as 2007, rumours of a break-up of the Arabian Gulf side surfaced, with Qatar participating separately in the 2007 Asia Rugby Cup in Sri Lanka. These rumours were apparently quashed with the Arabian Gulf team recently expanding to add the three associate nations. However, the eventual breakup was later confirmed confirmed; on 16 January 2009, the sport's international governing body, the International Rugby Board, announced that the Arabian Gulf Rugby Football Union, which organises the national team, will be split into separate national unions and will cease to exist by the end of 2010. The first new union to be formed is expected to be that of the UAE. |

First, there were no unions whatsoever acknowledge by governments of the Arabian Gulf (not the Persian Gulf (never been, never will ) which means (Kingdom of Bahrain, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, State of Qatar, United Arab Emirates, State of Kuwait and Sultanate of Oman). |
Second, If a group of expatriates illegally formed unions bypassing all these governments and taking it up to the IRB for their own benefits, making business and entertainment in the region, This was a damn wrong ethically and professionally. |
Third, The IRB is to blame of not respecting the Sovereignty of these nations to allow such things goes without proper legal documents. |
Having said that, anything comes out of theses illegal action is illegitimate which include any illegal unions, clubs, and teams, what ever you call it. Just end of last year of 2010, UAE force those who were running the show in the rugby illegal business and entertainment in Dubai to set up Legitimate UAE Rugby Association NOT even union and get rid of all illegal unions they claimed (this can be verified by UAE government of General Authority of Youth & Sports Welfare). That goes for Qatar as well. |
There were never been legitimate unions in Kingdom of Bahrain, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, State of Kuwait and Sultanate of Oman until this moment June 2nd of 2001 . |
The Arabian Gulf States will run after and take to court those who contribute to this illegal action soon! |
The team's final tournament before the breakup was the 2010 Asian Five Nations, which doubled as the final stage of Asian qualification for the 2011 Rugby World Cup. The Arabian Gulf team won two of their four matches, including a 21–19 win in their final match in history at The Sevens in Dubai against Korea. |

Making the same claims over and over will not lend them any more validity. You'll need to provide reliable sources to back up the claims. |

In particular, please reconcile the claim that rugby operations in the UAE were illegal against the demonstrable fact that international rugby sevens competitions have been held in Dubai. —C.Fred (talk) 14:54, 7 June 2011 (UTC) |

Dubai 7s was hold by Emirate airlines (NOT by UAE government of General Authority of Youth & Sports Welfare)for a tourism business.If you pay attention to what I have written, you will see that the IRB is the one that has legitimize this prior the consent of all the Arabian Gulf states. Having the IRB to run Dubai 7s sponsored by Emirate airlines on the land of the UAE states, does not change the fact the "what is called the Arabian Gulf or the Arabian Gulf Team" was established on Illegal basis. |
==Asian Five Nations== |
To prove this, the Dubai 7s as of last year is running by the UAE Rugby Association (UAERA). Someone will ask, why not the "Arabian Gulf Rugby Union" ? |

The Arabian Gulf participated in the highest tier of the inaugural 2008 Asian Five Nations alongside Korea, Japan, Hong Kong and Kazakhstan.<ref>"Inaugural Asian Five Nations set for kick off".
