On 12 April 2024 suspected Islamist rebels opened fire on people working in fields in Mulekera, North Kivu, Democratic Republic of the Congo leaving at least ten people dead and an unknown amount injured.[1]
Background
[edit]Around 2012, an armed rebellion in the Kivu provinces of Democratic Republic of the Congo has left thousands dead where armed rebels have attacked villages and cities across the country.[citation needed]
