The 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup group stage was played from 1 to 17 June 2024, between 20 teams in four groups of five with each team facing the other teams in the group for a total of 40 matches across 6 venues in the West Indies and 3 venues in the United States.
The top two teams from each group—India and United States from Group A; Australia and England from Group B; West Indies and Afghanistan from Group C; South Africa and Bangladesh from Group D—advanced to the Super 8 stage.
India progressed to their pre-seeded position A1, while United States took position A2 which was originally pre-seeded to Pakistan. Australia and England progressed to their pre-seeded positions B2 and B1 respectively. West Indies progressed to their pre-seeded position C2, while Afghanistan took position C1 which was originally pre-seeded to New Zealand. South Africa progressed to their pre-seeded position D1, while Bangladesh took position D2 which was originally pre-seeded to Sri Lanka.

[edit]- Group B: On 11 June 2024, Australia became the first team to qualify for the Super 8 after beating Namibia at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.[23] England took the second qualification spot from Group B by virtue of their higher run rate after Scotland's defeat against Australia on the last match of the Group B at Daren Sammy Cricket Ground on 15 June 2024.[26]
- Group D: On 11 June 2024, South Africa became the first team to qualify for the Super 8 from Group D after Nepal and Sri Lanka's abandoned match at Central Broward Park.[23] Bangladesh became the second team to qualify from Group D after defeating Nepal at Arnos Vale Stadium on 16 June 2024.[45]
- Group C: On 12 June 2024, West Indies became the first team to qualify for the Super 8 from Group C after defeating New Zealand at Brian Lara Cricket Academy.[33] Afghanistan became the second team to qualify from Group C after defeating Papua New Guinea at Brian Lara Cricket Academy on 13 June 2024.[34]
- Group A: On 12 June 2024, India became the first team to qualify for the Super 8 from Group A after beating hosts USA at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium.[17] Hosts USA became the second team to qualify from Group A after their abandoned match against Ireland at Central Broward Park on 14 June 2024.[18]
Prior to the tournament, eight teams were seeded in the Super 8 stage based on their T20I rankings ahead of the tournament: Australia, India, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka in Group 1, and England, Pakistan, South Africa, and the West Indies in Group 2.[46]
