The Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority Police (TBTA Police), is the law enforcement agency of the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority (doing business as MTA Bridges and Tunnels). Bridge and Tunnel Officers (BTO) are responsible for protecting the Authority's facilities, enforcing state and city laws in those facilities, and for certain other duties such as collecting tolls, enforcing weight and hazardous-material regulations, assisting motorists, and keeping roadways clear of snow and disabled vehicles. It currently has some 700 sworn personnel.

Organization

Sworn personnel are New York State Peace Officers authorized to execute warrantless arrests, perform car stops, issue summonses, carry a firearm and use physical and deadly force. All its sworn officers are armed.

There are five sworn titles (referred to as ranks) for the TBTA Police:

Title Insignia Uniform shirt color
Chief
White
Captain

There has been discussion around incorporating the BTOs into the MTA Police Department because the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority (doing business as MTA Bridges and Tunnels) is a part of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
