Farmers and Fishermen: Two Centuries of Work in Essex County, Massachusetts, 1630-1850 is a book by the Canadian historian Daniel Vickers, first published in 1994.[1]

It won the 1995 John H. Dunning Prize[2] as well as the 1994–95 Louis Gottschalk Prize from the American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies.[3][4]

The book is mentioned in the film Good Will Hunting by the title character, played by Matt Damon,[5]
